2 New Home

Bruce Wayne had a gentleness to him, kind and caring radiated outwards, mixed with a playful nature. Heylel however understood one thing, when she buried her forehead in his chest, he packed muscle. Batman, possibly the single most famous human in all of fiction. The one with the most fans and the one with more critiques.

And she had just landed herself his daughter. A jackpot, but not one without its issues, she was no crime fighter, her objective was that superhuman skill and money. Besides even though being a member of the bat family was dangerous, being a member of the Wayne family? It was arguably amazing, it was safe, safer than being a random girl in this city anyway. A city in which the first thing a family does after having any money is put a steel gate in the entrance.

Still, the car ride was during the day and they were going through the main road, not through the capillaries, so it looked no different than any other city at least if one would ignore the many gargoyles and overwhelming architecture of the landmarks.

"How is it?" A bite from a burger prepared by a five-star chef, that's what Heylel had been told by her new father, who had managed to finish the long and tedious adoption process in half an hour. The power of money is something alright.

"Good," Heylel said with a nod, "Never had something so fulfilling before." She didn't even need to lie, this was way too good, unbelievably so.

'She looks happy,' He mushed, "So, why were all your friends shocked when you spoke?"

"They probably thought I was mute," She replied quickly, well, he didn't exactly investigate the reason chalking it up to her being a quiet child, "Any idea why?"

"..." She stopped chowing down the burger and looked up, her red ruby-like eyes meeting his, "I couldn't speak before I meet you."

"Why?"

"I felt like someone had to know... The pain of losing what's precious—not being able to do anything. So, when I saw you, I wanted to ask, how do you deal with it."

Bruce was momentarily at a loss, everyone knew his history, so she was looking for a solution in him, no, she was looking for his solution. He nodded, "It's simple, I use it."

"Use it?" She asked and he nodded, "How?"

"To make this city, this world a better place."

'Impossible,' She bit back her words, this was Gotham, "Is that why you fund so many orphanages? To make it a better place?"

"Yes, but that is just treating one of the symptoms."

"Symptoms?"

"The cause of so much suffering, the crime in our city."

"If you—if you really can, I want to help," She lied without batting an eye, she didn't want to help, she didn't want to take risks but knew she had to.

The city of Gotham was the crime capital of the entire USA, no not just the USA but the entire Americas, why? Simple, there is money here, obscene amounts at that. Bruce Wayne, the richest man in this world lived here, and he was just one of many, the concentration of money in this one city was probably the densest in this world.

The amount of money one could make was insane, with probably the widest wealth divide in this world, a powerful grip of organized crime, and rampant corruption, this city was a cesspool where many times the opportunity that would set you up for life is often too tempting to refuse and often buried so deep that if you slip once, you are stuck there.

"Gotham always welcomes new protectors," Bruce said as he ruffled her hair, 'But only when you are ready.' He won't have what happened to Jason happen to another, she would be trained and ready for whatever those madmen threw at her.

There is a food chain in Gotham and the Waynes are the apex of this chain, so much so that even the worst of Gotham do not mess with them. As the limo rolled by the first game she could understand why. This wasn't just an estate, this was a fortress, wide eyes she just gawked as they passed progressively taller walls three times at about five minutes drive away. Guards patrolled in riot gear and cameras remained ever on guard.

"Amazing isn't it?" Bruce asked the girl, she nodded, "All of this is yours?"

"Now it is yours too," He followed her gaze, she was awed at the sheer display of wealth, he had grown up here, and to him this was normal. It reminded him, how much of a gift it was for him to be his parents' son.

"Right. We are family now," Heylel had to admit, the word was new to her too, it was first for the girl who had bounced from relative to relative in 'his' life and only spent a day with 'her' parents before they were murdered.

She was not used to the word, but it was nice knowing she had a safety net, especially one this size, for that she could get used to it and maybe even like it.

Bruce felt it too, the way the girl bounced the word off her tongue, trying to sound it out.

Slowly the limo slid to a halt in front of the main villa.

"Wow..." Unintentionally the words leaked at the sight, from behind Bruce chuckled, "How do you like it?"

"Amazing."

"Good because this is your new home."

[A/N: People seem to like this story, a lot. Anyway, I am curious, what powers do you guys want her to have, please tell me, I do have an idea but let's see your ideas first.

And where will she get her power? The meta gene. Also, the ideas that am thinking are more fit for a villain. (The tags my guys, this is a very selfish person's story.)

And before I forget, I am going to flesh out Gotham itself a lot, how its people have adapted why it is the crime capital of the world, etc. The GCPD will be fleshed out too.]
