Chapter 41

"Never expected you to come so fast." Said surprised Seris.

"It happened so that I have great teleportation abilities." I replied and she just nodded.

I transported through shadows and appeared in Seris's shadow, which was previously occupied by Cylrit. Seris requested a meeting with me, so I didn't waste mine and her time so I immediately came here.

"You called me out here, not for just little talk right?" I asked, she again nodded.

"That's right. Alacrya is starting movements on Dicathen, I think you already know about this."

"I'm already aware, I caught a lot of spies by myself. Council also caught a few without my intervention." I replied.

"Hm, so Dicathen isn't as hopeless as I thought..." Muttered Seris under her breath.

"Dicathen would be fully devastated, of course without my intervention." I said.

War is unavoidable, Alacrya already sent spies and probably killed dozens of citizens on Dicathen. Then there is also me, I killed also killed their spies. The council might be lucky if imprisoned spies will say anything about Alacrya.

"We might as well take a walk, while you will explain what's going on." I told her as I started walking towards the nearest town, she followed me.

"You are walking towards the town. Are you perhaps searching for more information there?" Questioned Seris at which I just shook my head.

"Not exactly information. I just want to what's happening in town, to be exactly what normal civilians are doing for the upcoming war."

"They aren't aware of war itself yet, but they are ready for emergencies. After two Relictombs were closed, Vritras gave the command to be on guard." Seris explained the current situation in Alacrya.

"I have to admit. Those Vritras of yours really did make a good job forming the country." I praised them loudly for Seris to hear.

"Indeed, but they sacrificed a lot of Alacryans from their experiments. They injected their own blood into citizens, I'm actually one of them." This topic should have angered her, but she was rather calm.

"Is this why you have similar mana-signature to beasts?" I tilted my head and asked.

"Should I take this as an insult?"

"Nevermind I already know the answer. Then do you want Alacrya to be freed from Vritras?" This was the last question I wanted to ask her.

"That was my desire from the beginning, you already know so I want to ask how?"

"When you said that you were doing your own investigation in the dungeon. Also, your former servant told me a lot of things." Cylrit informed me about many things, including information about Seris and what was she doing.

"Cylrit told you... so he is under your full control. Just who are you really?" She narrowed her eyes at me.

"I'm human, just different from others." Technically that was the whole truth and I told her so.

"What are going to do if Alacryan spies organize attack in Sapin kingdom?" Seris asked after catching a small town in her sight.

"I will repay with little surprise, but it will be ten times worse if not even more." I answered, quickening my pace towards town.

"You aren't going to kill innocent are you?" I shook my head in denial of her question.

"I have no reasons to kill innocent. Such provocations aren't my style."

"Then what is your style?" I'm not getting tired of her questions.

"Eliminating core of the problem itself, to not waste time." I answered her again, she put her hands on her chin, after some time of thinking she asked me again.

"Why aren't you doing it now? I'm sure enough you can defeat Agrona, with your control over souls..." Seris commented, I raised my brow at this.

"How do you know that I'm stronger than Agrona?"

"You can seal the space, nullifying any teleportation spells. Then there is also Cylrit that you turned into your servant and in the process making him even stronger... I just know that there isn't anyone who could do the same. Even Agrona himself isn't capable of that." She answered with a trembling voice.

"Good deduction. I'll answer this, I hope there won't be any other questions. I just want to minimize consequences, I'm not going to underestimate anyone yet. This Aether of yours is a higher element than mana, it shouldn't be underestimated anyhow knowing from where it's coming..." I could see the confused expression of Seris.

"And those Asuras with Vritras can influence Aether. This is why I'm not making any actions now." I added and we finally approached the entrance of the town.

"You are knowledgeable about Aether. That's to be expected." Seris mumbled.

"Now since we arrived at our destination, tell me what you wanted to inform me about." We stepped inside the town. The town was a small one, so it didn't have guards.

"As I said, Vritras are taking action. They already finished the first phase of the plan, gathering enough mutated beasts in dungeons, second phase is to set up teleportation gates in the deepest dungeons. This way they will create a foothold there, later they will control mutated mana-beasts to rampage outside of the dungeons." Explained Seris.

"Great plan, Council totally wouldn't expect an attack from here, since Beast Glades is under my jurisdiction." Surprisingly Seris chuckled at this.

"Plan got ruined before it was even used haha..." Her laugh was creepy.

"Anything other than this I should be aware of? if not then I'm going." I got stopped her before I could merge with my shadow.

"Yes, I'm not sure, but I think the child of the Indrath clan is in Xyrus." Intrigued about what she said, I turned to her.

"Indrath is one of the eight Asuran clans. Princess of Indrath clan and Agrona had a deep relationship as I know. after Lady Sylvia escaped Agrona's grasp she run away with the child and the last time was located in Beast Glades. One of the Scythes mentioned auburn-haired boy with her, the boy's description... is exactly like yours." Seris related.

"So that was her huh..." I remembered my pitiful battle at the Great Mountains and the moment when someone tried to penetrate my mind.

"I think, I know who that child is." Who would have thought that Sylvie was a princess of the Asuran clan and same time princess of the Vritra clan...

"So, you had contact with Lady Sylvia's child. I don't know about Lady Sylvia herself, since Agrona classified every piece of information even from Scythes, but I suspect she is dead, Scythe Cadell also hasn't told me anything. Other than this I don't have anything to inform you about, but I might have a little request." She said.

"What request?" At least, I should listen to her, instead of declining instantly.

"Can you guarantee me the safety of my people? People of Alacrya." Her serious expression is one thing to mimic...

"As I said, I'm not annihilating the continent of Alacrya. You shall not worry about this matter." I responded.

"Doesn't reassure me at all..." Mumbled Seris.

"You don't fully trust me, that's only natural." With that said, I glanced at her last time before I merged with my shadow.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

"My liege, I completed your task." Beru bowed down, I looked at laying students around the battleground.

I even sweatdropped at the scene. Did Beru drag them on the ground face down? Their uniforms weren't damaged, but all of them were super dirtied. Previously blue uniforms were now dirty-brown.

"I defeated them without leaving any visible damage. just as you tasked me, my liege." Beru boasted waiting for praise.

"What about mental damage Beru..." I facepalmed. Beru widened his eyes and buried his hand in the ground as an apology.

"*Sigh* Whatever... Today's session is done, you may all go." Not that anyone could stand up or walk...

"Also congratulations, you all managed to level up." I clapped few times and their levels increased, mostly by one or two.

Their exhaustion visibly vanished, I could see this from their surprised faces. That was also the effect of level up, badge inserted quite an amount of mana in them.

"Woah, Art you got 3 levels!" Exclaimed Tessia after seeing Arthur's badge.

"Eh, not fair! He was the highest of all of us. It should be harder for him to level up." Groaned Curtis, Blaine's son.

"Everything was distributed fairly. The stronger opponent you fought more levels you get." Arthur fought against me and against Beru, even though he couldn't defeat both of us.

"I got levels? I don't remember, I was sleeping." After entering the first phase of his beast will Arthur fell unconscious.

"Haha! I feel so strong, I think I can take on a horde of mana-beasts!" Shouted some blond-haired elf.

"You'll get to fight them a lot from now on. My soldiers are also very impatient..." My sinister voice made them tremble.

"I think you shall hurry up, I never said you could skip other classes." I told them, they left after groaning.

.

"How is the progress?" Goodsky asked me while sipping tea.

"If they could get field experience it would be great, but I can't force them to kill." I responded also while sipping tea.

"Hm, yes. We can't force students to dirty their hands, at last not yet." She replied I guess she didn't get that in field experience I meant killing their own kind.

"Anyway, I visited your homeland." I voiced and she flinched.

"A-Anything b-bad?" She asked stuttering on her words.

"Hm, nothing bad is happening currently. I would say they are in a better situation than us, however, they are also planning to make some moves here on Dicathen through Beast Glades." I answered, taking a final sip of tea.

"Does that mean they are ready for war?" Her serious composure returned.

"They are."

"Shouldn't we inform council?" She inquired.

"No. I'm fishing out for real rat, until then only ones who will know will be you, Virion, and Kaspian." Cynthia already knew about two others I mentioned, so there was no need to introduce them.

"Virion...hah that old man?!" All the tense atmosphere around her disappeared.

"You aren't any different...Anyway, I forgot to do one thing at our previous meeting. So I will do it now." I stood up and approached her.

When I was close enough, I lifted my finger and touched her forehead sending a wave of mana directly into her.

"Now, everything is done. No need for thanks." I exited the room soon after I heard sniffles.

'I haven't met Kaspian for a while... I guess it's time to visit him also discussing plans to rule out a real rat in the council.'
