Luxury Villa Complex- Phoenix Pavilion

As one of the most luxurious villa complexes in Seoul, the Phoenix Pavilion Villa Complex has an extremely high reputation. Not only for the extremely high end luxury villas they have, but also for being only 20 minutes away from the University of Seoul.

The cheapest villa in the complex was 250 million and the most expensive was 600 million(250-600 million in USD, and 292-700 billion in SKW.)

Sitting on a black sofa, a young man watched the news with zero emotion or expression on his face, almost as if he's being forced to watch something so mundane.

The young man is 20 years old, his eyes were pure red with no pupil, with snow-white hair that was slightly disheveled, he also stood at a perfect height of 6'2" (188.976 cm).

His appearance was considered god-like around the world, but if one looked closely they would notice a body that was in perfect condition and shape, almost as if it was ready for any situation that was thrown his way. A perfect balance between agility, strength, endurance, and dexterity.

The young man's name is Drake 'Nyx' Echo.

He was orphaned at such a young age, as his mother died while giving birth to him, and his father died a few years after due to a serious drinking problem. Leaving Drake alone to defend and fight for himself in the streets at the tender age of 7.

Fortunately, he witnessed a murder occurring between an 'innocent' bystander and an attractive woman in the middle of the night. After the woman killed the bystander, their eyes locked as they stared at one another. As for the woman, after she finished her mission she happened to make eye contact with the young boy who witnessed the whole thing.

She expected him to scream and cry like a usual kid at the age of 7, but to her surprise he didn't, he just watched her murder someone with no emotion or expression on his face. Not even a slight shiver, as he just witnessed a murder, not even reacting to the cold breeze that danced around the night sky.

If it wasn't for his snow-white hair fluttering in the wind and the dead cold stare of his unusual red eyes, she would have just thought she was just imagining things. Her interest was peaked as she started walking to the boy just across the street.

"What's your name, little one?" the woman said with a smile as she stood in front of the young boy.

"... it's rude not to introduce oneself before asking for someone else's name." Drake responded as he stared at the women as her dark gray hair laid on her shoulders, and her lively grey eyes shined in the night, with an appealing hourglass figure that hid behind a hoodie.

"..."

The woman was stunned beyond belief as he spoke to her un-afraid not even minding his ice cold tone towards someone who just killed someone.

"Jade." Jade responded with a slight giggle after regaining her senses.

"Drake Echo." he responded, still showing no emotions.

"Can I ask why you're out here alone?"

"I have nowhere else to go." Drake responded which seemed to throw off Jade.

"Would you like to come with me? it's better than staying in the streets." she proposed with a smile.

"Okay." Drake responded as he knew she was right.

So they left the killing scene without even looking back at the dead cold body laying on the floor.

13 years have passed since that fateful night.

"Today, Thursday March 25th, 2040, is one of the world's most awaited days for all of humanity, especially for those who love the virtual worlds, and for those who are looking for a business opportunity."

From a holographic screen, a beautiful voice resonates through the villa.

"How about we go more in-depth about it." her co-worker asked, it was obvious they were following a script that was provided to them, as any normal human being knows what today is. Even Drake, but the only reason he knew was because all the channels were currently broadcasting this news channel. So technically he is being forced to watch it.

"Because today at 12 noon, the official opening of ≪ Fate Online ≫ will begin.

≪ Fate online ≫, the first virtual reality game that is 100% supported by the World Central Bank.

As many of you know, the World Central Bank is formed by all the most important banks in the world. Which means everyone in the world will be able to exchange real money for gold within the world of Fate Online as soon as the currency exchange is available!

So I think everyone watching or reading right now should thank a very special someone. So everyone, even though he might not be watching, we just want to say a special thank you towards Drake Echo!!!!!"

Claps and cheers came out the tv as the reporters and people filming cheered for him.

"Due to Drake Echo, we have experienced a new age of virtual reality. As he created everything that has to do with VR including, the VR Capsules sold in stores as well as even owning the number one bank that is leading this project."

This is one of the most amazing things about Fate Online. Although a new era of virtual reality including multiple games in the past, the World Central Bank has always stood aside no matter how much profit they could make.

Due to the lack of confidence and ignorance about when a game could shut down, people didn't dare risk their hard earned money for gold within a game.

Now that the World Central Bank has put its foot through the door, everything has changed.

In the past ever since Drake created virtual reality, it was mostly used as a source of entertainment and socializing. Now, players will have the opportunity to experience a brand new world, and investors will try and move in on the diamond mine.

Fate Online is something no one has ever thought of, as it would feel like you're genuinely in another world, you eat and you get full in real life, sleep in there and you feel refreshed, exercise, and your body will get stronger, pain tolerance cannot go under 75%. Obviously investors and geniuses wouldn't let an opportunity like this slide. This means that the economy of the whole world and humanity will take a drastic turn.

The reporter continued talking...

"Fate online is a virtual world consisting of different realms. Usually people call them levels or something else, but this time they're called realms and each realm contains a different world inside.

People are also able to link up their bank accounts with their account as the developers stated no gold coins or starter pack will be available. Which received some drawbacks but they released a statement saying they wanted to keep it as logical as possible.

They also said the NPC's are developed with the most advanced artificial intelligence 'Athena', so all players can expect actual human-like dialogue almost as if you're speaking to an actual h~..."

Drake turned off the TV without waiting for the reporter to continue, as he was about to stand up he felt his wrist vibrating nonstop indicating an incoming call.

"Hello?" Drake answered it by tapping the watch on his wrist twice.

"DU..."

*Beep*

Drake instantly hung up without even letting the other person continue their sentence, after a few seconds he got the same call and answered it in the same manner.

"Why'd you hang up?!" The voice resounded out of the watch and throughout the villa, the voice belonged to a man, as it had a slight masculine tone that was soothing to the ears of any female who heard it.

"I didn't want my ear drums to explode due to your idiotic screaming." Drake said coldly without holding back his words.

"Harsh... anyway, did you hear about Fate Online?"

"Yes."

You could tell the disinterest in Drake's voice as it was the only emotion he finally showed in his face or his voice.

Ever since he was discovered by Jade, he admits his life changed drastically for a short while, as he got older everything around him bored him... nothing in the world excited him in the slightest.

"Are you even allowed to play the game?" the voice asked with slight doubt in his tone.

"Yes I am, I have nothing to do with the development or manufacture of the game. Just because I own and created 'Echo Bank' the leading bank for this project doesn't mean I know what's going on, I don't even manage the bank I just own it... I didn't want the hassle of managing it so I just hired someone. So technically every decision or investment has nothing to do with me. All I get is huge checks in my account and that's it." Drake said as he was just looking at the ceiling even bored of this conversation.

"Soooo... are you going to play?" the voice asked with slight hesitation as he knew no matter how much he tried he could never get Drake to try any games at all, every time he invited Drake, Drake would just shut the idea down.

"... Yeah I'm gonna play." Drake said as his voice went back to normal with no emotions, but if someone was standing in the same room as him they would see him smiling...

SMILING!

No one has ever seen the famous Drake Echo smile before, not even Jade had ever seen him smile. People had a higher chance of having a heart attack, dying from lightning, winning the lottery, before Drake ever smiled.

"What class are you going to pick?"

"Assassin and you?" Drake asked.

"Ummm... I think swordsman!" the voice said with excitement in his voice.

Drake and the person on the phone talked and chatted a bit more before they bid their goodbyes and hung up.

Drake just sat there looking at the ceiling almost as if he was in his own little world.

"...Fate Online... don't disappoint me." Drake whispered before he closed his eyes.
