1 How can you see me?

Seoul Central Investigation Bureau:

It was 5.55 pm. Almost 5 minutes and 10 seconds left for today's official time off from duty. Dae Hyuk was impatiently gazing at the clock from his designated seat.

"Ahh just 5 minutes of more endurance, then I can finally enjoy my weekend leave. I will spend it as usual by lying down on my fluffy bed. Just the thought of getting my long-awaited rest is giving me such peace of mind." He was thinking with a gleeful smirk on his face.

"Mr. Lee Dae Hyuk?"

Dae Hyuk flinched with the sudden call and raised up his chin. Mr. Young, the chief of the Crime Investigation Department and also his superior, was standing in front of his desk with a serious look.

Immediately he sprang up from his seat and politely bowed to him. "Yes sir?" He asked.

Mr. Young had two gigantic files piled up with documents in his arm. He slowly put those stuffed files over his desk. "Mr. Lee, I want you to look over all the cases in these documents in your spare time this weekend. I hope you will take good care of it." He commanded.

Abruptly the glimpse of happiness completely faded from Dae Hyuk's face and he stared at the desk nonchalantly. "But... isn't it too much, sir?" He muttered feebly.

Mr. Young chuckled with his response and gently tapped his shoulder. "It's not much of a workload. And I am pretty sure you don't even have such friends to plan any hangouts. So, it will be easy for you. And, I am counting on you." He taunted him with a cheeky grin.

Dae Hyuk couldn't answer anything and slightly nodded his head. He was still gawking at those files with a sad face. "My dream of sleeping this whole weekend shattered into pieces..." He mumbled with a heavy sigh.

....

Lee Dae Hyuk, a 27-year-old handsome, Police Detective in the crime department of Central Seoul Investigation Office. Although judging from his outer appearance, he has been always honest with his work while trying to get along with his colleagues. But even though staying amidst everyone, he carries an unfilled void in his heart.

He has been living such a wistful life since the mysterious murder of his mother in front of his own eyes. Her shocking death was completely shrouded in dark clouds of mystery.

He was raised up by his grandma till 23 until she passed away. From that time, Dae Hyuk has only a desperate urge of finding the truth behind his mother's death. That's the sole reason for opting for 'detective' as his profession.

.....

He was walking by the subway at a slow pace after leaving his office. Holding those heavy packed files in his grip, he had a grimacing expression prevalent on his face.

"My whole weekend plan spoiled due to that nosy chief! I feel so damn frustrated, ugghhh! Though it's true that don't have such close companions, I indeed had a perfect plan for spending my long-awaited leisure weekend." He was murmuring with a pout. "Life really sucks." He sighed.

Suddenly, he saw a small innocent kid of around 6-7 years old, seated by the corner of the subway. He was playing all by himself with a small ping-pong ball.

Dae Hyuk slowly walked closer to the kid with a sad grin on his face. The child was wholly indulged while playing with the ball and didn't even look at him.

Dae Hyuk gently bent down towards him and patted his head. "Aren't you bored of playing all alone, kid?" He inquired.

The child raised his chin and gazed at him for a few moments. "Can you see me, Mister?" He asked in wonder.

Dae Hyuk slowly nodded his head with a wistful smile. "You...died at such a young age, little kid." He mumbled.

The boy continued his stare for a while and averted his gaze downwards. "Ahhh, it's no fun of becoming a ghost. No one can see me. Even I tried to wipe tears of mom but even she couldn't see me... I wish the car didn't hit me so hard that I had to die instantly... But, how can you see me, mister?" His childish voice sounded glum while he was gawking at him.

Dae Hyuk sighed with his response. "I feel helplessly pity for you, kid... All I can wish for you is to attain your afterlife pretty soon." He apparently grabbed some chocolates from his bag and looked at him. "Do you wanna have some chocolates? I usually keep these with me as I often bump into cute spirits like you." He inquired with a chuckle.

The little kid seemed to be beaming with happiness with the sight of chocolates and snatched it away from his arm. "Wow, chocolates! Thank you, mister. Are you an angel?" He reverted his query with a wide grin.

A glimpse of tears appeared on his eyes while looking at the child, grinning in joy. He gently patted his head and mumbled, "I wish your soul reaches your ultimate destination soon, little kid. I wish you don't have to be alone for a longer time."

...

After being departing from that small child ghost, he was walking at a slow pace towards his home. It was a bright full moon night. The illuminating moonlight was glittering up the dark night sky with a desolated pleasance. The wind breeze flowing mildly around him was calming down his gloomy heart.

"I wish, someday I could be the brightest moon in someone's darkish life..." He murmured with a heavy sigh.

Suddenly, his eyes stuck on an unusual sight. It was around mid-April. The cherry trees lined up alongside the road on his way back home were blooming blissfully. But, a cryptic person, wearing a massive black coat was seated all alone on a bench placed by the roadside. He was gazing at the bright moon silently. But from behind, he looked appeared quite lonely to him.

Slowly, Dae Hyuk walked closer towards him. The person was so immersed in thoughts that he didn't even notice Dae Hyuk already approached him.

"Are you sick of loneliness too, mister?" He blurted out in a mellow tone.

Suddenly the person flinched with his response and sprang up from his seat. With enlarged eyes, he was gawking at Dae Hyuk in wonder.

"Ar-Are you talking to me?" He gulped anxiously while asking him.

Dae Hyuk chuckled with his response and looked around themselves. "Do you see any other guys apart from us in this lonely street?" He answered.

The person seemed to be extremely fretful with his answer. He rolled up his eyes and took a step backward from him. "Bu-But, how is this po-possible?" He mumbled.

Dae Hyuk was staring at him inquisitively in wonder. His gestures appeared a bit odd to him. "Pardon?" He shrugged.

The person seemed to lose his calmness and glared at him. "He-Hey, how can you see me? You are a human, and you mustn't notice a grim reaper! How is this possible?" He shrieked.
