Chapter 19 - City A's Base

Ivan quickly cleaned himself up and wore some clothes. He wore a leather jacket, black jeans and a slightly loose white T-shirt. A simple black and silver necklace rested on his chest.

When he made it down, almost everyone had gathered in the hall but he couldn't see Jade or Dominic.

"Oh, there you are. I was just about to call you," Lana smiled.

These past two weeks, they'd gotten quite close. Ivan liked her a lot. She was strong had a confident personality and was a kind but slightly naive person at heart.

Ivan smiled.

"But where is Dominic?" Ivan asked. These past three days, he hadn't seen him, he didn't even visit when he was training. Although it was probably because he didn't want to disturb him, he was still indignant. What? Can't he act spoiled anymore?

"Oh, the boss is already in the car." Dana looked at Ivan with a complicated look on her face.

Ivan thought it was strange but he brushed it off.

"Let's go then!" Cala said cheerfully.

They got in the car and drove to the broadcasting building.

Upon reaching there, they were a little shocked. There were a lot of people. Both old and young.

But what puzzled Ivan the most was how they got access to apocalyptic technology so easily.

'It was probably the work of Mason,' Ivan sneered. Whatever. Mason can do anything he wanted, it had nothing to do with him anyway.

'Momo is it possible to buy a fire ability from the system store?'

[ Yes, would the host like to purchase it?]

'Yes, and thank you.'

[Ding! Host has successfully purchased level 1 fire ability.]

Ivan smiled. The ability he was the most proficient in was fire, and in the apocalypse where safety was not assured, people's thirst for power had reached unprecedented heights. Once they heard that there were powerful abilities in humans that can be used to fight zombies, no one wanted to give up such an opportunity.

For easier management, the military had set up a unit of three hundred people and divided the entire base into seven major areas according to the size of the residence. Each area had a person in charge of management.

The military's notices have already been sent out and people from the first district have already rushed to the building for testing. They already knew that people with abilities not only had the power to protect themselves, but would also get much better treatment than normal people.

Five hundred people from the first district filled up the huge agora, they were all very eager to know their abilities. Luckily, the military was prepared for this and had already dispatched people to maintain order.

The people all lined up and started registering their names and other personal information. If you had your ID card on you, it would be used but if you didn't, you could just dictate your information. Because of this, it would be very easy to just fabricate information and it could easily become the truth because there was no way to verify it.

Whilst other people registered their personal information, the base leader, the heads of the ten main districts and other important personnel tested out their abilities first.

Ivan glanced towards their direction and his eyes widened slightly, but immediately went back to normal, almost as if he never made that expression in the first place.

Next to one of the district leaders was Mason. Ivan honestly wasn't too surprised at how quickly he changed bed partners. He decided to ignore Mason for now because he honestly had nothing to do with him.

After the leaders and personnel had finished testing out their powers, it was time for the other people to test their powers. Out of the ten district leaders, eight of them had abilities with only three being double ability users and the rest being single ability users.

Ivan looked up and locked eyes with one of the leaders. He had teal-coloured hair and bright golden eyes. Only one word could describe his appearance, stunning. Ivan almost couldn't Look away, but the other person broke eye contact first.

Ivan looked at the ground. He felt a little guilty for ogling another man right in front of his boyfriend.

He turned his head only to see Jade's arms hung flirtatiously around his lover's arm. He was fuming but in order to not make a scene, he turned away and pretended like he saw nothing.

It was their turn very soon and since Ivan was first in line, he went up first.

Ivan felt a burning gaze as he was walking but decided to ignore it.

He gently placed his palm on the colourless spherical orb and injected energy into it. There was a gasp.

The woman sitting behind the orb was shocked beyond belief.

"Q-quadruple ability user!"

Loud gasps and chattering filled the agora. Ivan stepped aside calmly and waited for the others to finish. After this, there's going to be a lot of changes in the base. Ivan glanced at the blue-haired man, who just so happens to be looking at him too.

Ivan quickly looked away, seeing as he had been caught with the tips of his ears slightly red.

It took a while for them to finish since all of Dominic's people were there too. After everyone was done they all entered another room to get their Identification cards and register themselves as a group. After all the paperwork had been completed they all headed back to the mansion, now headquarters, and decided to call it a day.

Ivan wanted to talk to Dominic but noticing he looked tired, he decided to postpone it to later in the afternoon. Ivan steadily walked to his room and entered the system training space. He adjusted the time and started practising with his fire abilities, It had really been too long and he missed that feeling.
