Dying and reincarnating isn't a new concept, but it was still fiction, no matter how much he wanted it to be real. Apparently, it wasn't as fictional as people thought and this was the proof. Standing before a goddess, he received a task to defeat the great evil that plagued the world he was about to be sent to. The only problem was... He didn't want to have anything to do with it. Deciding the best way to handle it was to let others do it for him, he settled down in the beginner's town, hoping that he would have a peaceful life with a moderate amount of excitement... Oh, how wrong he was. ___ I own nothing but the OC's.

Chapter Three

Eris.

That was the name of the currency in this world. He managed to get 1500 of it just by killing a few frogs and a thousand was spent on paying off the adventurer card. So, with only five hundred Eris remaining, he went back to complete the frog quest one more time.

His hatred for frogs only grew but on the plus side, he leveled up and was now level two.

Now, Pierce was sitting on one of the tables in the guild while looking at his card with interest. His class gave him three points for each level and new "Skills" came with them.

He had three options, all of them costing one point each.

The first one was "Leap" which did exactly what it said. Using this skill, he could leam long distances in the blink of an eye and the range would increase with each point he put to it. The second one was "Vertical Slash", Making his slash attacks deal more damage and giving them more range than normal. It was any level-one slashing skill for any warrior class in his old world. The third one was named "Lesser swordsmanship". Did exactly what it said, too, and made his swordsmanship slightly better.

Humming slightly, he used all three of his points to get each of them.

Wisdom: 22. Luck: 20.

Vertical Slash. Leap. Lesser Swordsmanship.]

Looks like leveling up passively increased his stats, since there was no way to add points to them manually. His class probably giving him more stats. And his suspicion was proven right, one point was more valuable for him than it would be for a normal adventurer, because of his advanced class. And Masamune's boost in strength wasn't shown on it as well. Quite peculiar.

Sighing, he sat up, he needed to find an Inn to stay at for the night.

___

Five days passed and frogs weren't giving him any more levels. He leveled up twice so he was level four, unfortunately, he did not get any more new skills, which was quite understandable. He didn't know how to get skills, might be a specific action or when he reached level five, he needed to find out.

Knowing what to do to get answers to his questions, he walked towards the reception desk. Where the ever-present Luna was doing her work.

"Excuse me, Miss Luna, may I pester you about a few questions I have?"

Luna looked up from the papers she was working on and smiled at him. Pierce didn't delude himself, that wasn't a smile of fondness, that was a smile of a businesswoman. A very experienced businesswoman.

"Of course! what is it that you need?"

Pierce proceeded to ask his questions about the doubts he had about leveling up, skill learning, and stat progression. The results were interesting, to say the least.

You could level up by eating... Apparently. Because that makes sense.

The skills could be learned in a few ways. If someone thought you a skill that aligned with your class, you could spend points to learn it. Then there was the leveling up route, just by gaining more levels one could get skills at set levels, and you could also put points in skills to make them stronger or more effective.

And finally, you could perform an action enough times to become proficient at it to get the skill.

Since he did not fly with magic, he did not the skill "Fly", it was as simple as that.

"So... If I parry enough attacks I can get the "Parry" skill."

He mumbled, looking at his card with a thoughtful look. Luna nodded with a smile, glad that he understood her explanation without any questions, and waited in case he needed anything else.

"Alright, are there any goblin slaying quests?"

Pierce asked as he pocketed his card, he still had six points to spare, holding off on upgrading the skills he had currently. Luna reached below the desk, took out a few papers, and flipped through them. A second later, she put three papers in front of him.

"Here you go, Mr. White."

Looking down at them, he started reading through them, a goblin den... in a forest. A place that is full of shadows. A perfect occasion to test out his Shadow sneak.

The second one was also in a forest, though, goblins were battling against the wolves for territory. That was new. Though it could be a way to get more experience if he managed to kill the wolves too, there was even a bounty on them.

Finally, there was the third quest, it was a search and destroy. A farmer has noticed the footprints of goblins near his house, he wanted them located and killed.

"I'll take this one."

He chose the third quest. The few footprints the farmer noticed must have been the scouting party. He hadn't fought any goblins yet, but even so, he should expect the worst and assume that they are like in that one anime he watched. The goblin slayer. Truly, vile beasts.

Handing his adventurer card to Luna, he waited as she did her thing with the quest assignment. He still didn't know what they did to make the quests appear on the back of the card.

Now, what to do while he waits?

As if on command, the door opened and two people walked in. A male and female. The boy, looking in his mid-teens, had brown hair and green eyes, unusually enough, he wore a green tracksuit.

(He must be from Earth too.)

He reasoned. Of course, the one that sent him here said that there were others, so this guy must have been sent here before him or just a bit after. And his companion looked... unusual.

She wore a blue, short dress, with what looked like arm warmers. Her hair was waist-long and oddly enough, blue. On top of her head was a small patch of hair that was tied into a circle with what looked like a chemically accurate water clip.

Odd.

"Here you go, Mr. White."

Now that he thought about it, this "Mr. White" thing made him feel line he was in his twenties. He was still nineteen, damn it.
