The Try out

We got out of the gate and started moving .

Jenny was unsually silent for the 3days have known her she wasn't like this .

" What's wrong?" I asked her .

" Oh ... nothing " she tried to hide her sadness.

As you know ladies like people who insist so I asked her again .

" Are you sure "

" Yeah I'm fine "

I didn't mind and we continued to walk home.

" I'm going to take you to my home " I jokingly said to her . She looked at me then smiled .

" Are you sure you want your Mom to see me with you "

" Yap she would be happy to see me with a pretty girl like you. " I said without thinking about what I said . She looked at me then smiled but her chicks had turned red so she looked down . Realising that I had complimented her . I decided to change the topic .

" So do you like music ? "

" Yap who doesn't " she said with a smile on her face .

"Whose your favorite musician? " I asked her .

" Taylor Swift " she replied

" What about you ? " she asked looking at me .

" oh...me ... I don't have favorites I just listen to what suits me ." I said to her still thinking about who my favorite is .

We moved for while charting with each other .

" This is my house " she said pointing a simple flat .

" Oh really...I also leave in this neighborhood" I said to her realising my house was just 3 houses away from hers .

" Really where exactly ." she asked

" Just there " I pointed to my house .

" I will visit you some time " she said entering her house.

I wondered why I didn't see her that whole week I was not going to school . Then I realized that she had just come from the city.

I went home and found mom sleeping on the couch . I tip toed past her as I didn't want to wake her up . I changed to casual clothes then washed my uniforms for today . And u decided to prepare something for Mom. I prepared her favorite dish. Then woke her up after putting it on the table .

" When did you come back ?" in a sleepy voice she asked me .

" Some time back " I said to her .

" Mom come right this way " as I pointed to the direction of the dining room .

" Troy ...When did you do all this? " surprised she asked.

" Just a enjoy" I said to her with a smile .

She sat and we ate while charting she was so happy and so was I . I wanted to make Mom happy since she has done alot for me .

After that she went to sleep since she was so tired from work . I thought of getting an after school job to help around with the costs . But I needed alot time to adjust to the new school. I also went to my room and thought about that tryout for tomorrow .

I was determined to make it to the school team .That would help me get closer to Tess.

I closed my eyes and slept.

The next morning my alarm woke me up and I prepared myself for school . To my surprise Mom didn't come and neither had she prepared breakfast for me ask usual . I knew she was tired from over working so I prepared breakfast for me and her then ate mine first then I went and woke her up . I was the first to leave then she would leave after I left .

She greeted me " Good morning Troy ...did I over sleep " with regret she said .

"it's okay ... I won't be late but I've prepared everything don't worry " I calmed her.

I left for school while she was eating her breakfast . And I head to school.

As usual Jenny and Jerome came before me I wondered what time they wake up.

" Hey " I greeted Jenny. but it seemed she wasn't happy .

" Hey " she replied with a half smile .

I fist bumped Jerome " sap bro " he said .

The lesson began and after a while it was done my only target for today was the Tryouts . I ate breakfast with Jenny and Jerome but they didn't talk to each other but I didn't wanna meedle in their family business so I kept quiet .

"Friday is the best day at school "Jerome said smiling at me .

" Why" I asked him as I didn't know what he was talking about.

" Bro lessons are done for today " he said realising that I didn't get what he was saying .

" After break Library time up to lunch then after lunch if you don't like sports you can go home and if you wanna watch or participate you stay up to 3 :20 then home . "he explained. " although some kids stay up to

4:00 studying. " he added.

Yap I knew that this time was for kids to spend time with their girlfriends and boyfriends.

After break Jerome again didn't show up to the Library with me and Jenny. He was again with Amanda. Jenny and I sat in the Library talked about different things .

I told her " I'm going to tryout " she smiled and said " I will be there I won't go home." Just next to us in the Library a couple was settled there busy kissing each other like there is nobody else there . The moment was awkward . Until they saw us staring at them .

"Sorry ..." the girl said and pulled away her boyfriend and they went.

Time for the Tryouts came we were told to change to the school team training outfit. We were like fifty who were trying out. We went to the basketball court which was indoors it was huge so we used half of it for training .

First we did push ups jumping jacks we lapped around it and we sweated alot before we could even touch the ball .

Finally the official school team arrived and they were going to just work as spectators.

The cheerleaders also came and u saw Tess looking so pretty in that cheerleader's uniform.

Tryouts for cheerleaders were also for today they . Those in training took the other half of the court . What surprised me was that Jenny was also there.

I first decided to focus on making the team but I was somehow taken by how she could do flips .

Our first test was shooting . I didn't feel any fear as I used to play basketball with my dad and at my former school . I was good at it.

I kept on throwing I didn't miss any ball.

Dribbling I knew it. As time went on the number that had come for Tryouts reduced both for the cheerleaders and the basketball team.

On the side of the basketball team only 12 of us were left and on the cheerleaders side only 5 were left and Jenny was there I wasn't surprised because she knew what she was doing.

We were told that those who had qualified for the team would be displayed on the notice board on Monday .

Then we were dismissed.

I rushed to Jenny after changing to the school uniform removing the training attire .

she had also removed the one for cheerleaders .

" How did you get so good at flips ?" I asked her .

" I was a cheerleader at my former school " she said trying to tie her hair in a ponytail .

I decided to help her seeing she as so disturbed .

" Let me do it " I said grabbing the hair band from her hands.

I stood in front of her then tied it but she looked at me and I got lost in her bright eyes for a while .

" What ?" she said .

" Nothing ..."I moved from in front her.

"Why didn't you tell me you were trying out for the cheerleaders " I asked her .

"I wasn't .." she said " They weren't allowing anyone there if you are not going to tryout or if you are not on the school team" she paused. " so I decided to go in the cheerleaders tryout inorder to see you tryout since I promised you" she added and her mouth turned into a smile.

" Thanks " I said to her.

" By the way you are good where did you learn basketball " she asked .

"My dad used to teach me " I said to her.

" Does he longer teach you? " she asked

As I heard that question I felt sorrow in my heart . I think she noticed me and said .

" I'm sorry Troy"
